Acts 29 History
The New Testament Book of Acts tells the story of the beginnings of the Christian church. It is 28 chapters long. So why Acts 29? It is because the work of the church is not over yet - we are continuing to do God's work in the world and the story continues to be written.

The past few years Lord of Life has served in the Gulf coast region:
2007 - Stayed and worked through Bethel Lutheran in Biloxi, MS
2008-2010 - Stayed and worked through Camp Victor*, Ocean Springs, MS
2011 - Stayed and worked in Port Sulphur, LA

The 5th Annual Acts 29 mission trip
to the Gulf Coast, where we continue to help rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, is now complete. Thirteen people worked with the Fuller Center for Disaster ReBuilders at Port Sulphur, Louisiana:

Remember:

God doesn’t care about your ability,
God doesn’t care about your inability,
God cares about your availability.

The Acts 29 team meets families and works daily with them on their homes. Each day the team goes to the homes to repair damage, but an important part of the trip is also getting to talk to the families and getting to know them on a personal level. Members of the team get to know each other by working together, traveling to and from the job sites, having devotions and hanging out together.

*Camp Victor Ministries closed in August 2010. The impact of their ministry over the last 5 years is amazing:
·   2,400,000 volunteer service hours, valued at $45 million had the work been completed by paid contractors
·   1,250,000 meals served
·   60,000 volunteers
·   3,500 homes mucked/gutted
·   2,200 individual/family cases managed
·   550 homes rehabbed/built anew
·   $15 million infused into the Coast's economies, just from the operation of our camps.
