Not much sleep the night before we left. Lots of rain and thunder. The carpoolers arrived before 6:00 in the morning for an early departure. We jokingly took a photo of the 7 of us driving down in the Mustang.
We got to Iowa City before 11:00 to pick up Tom Wilson and then on the road again.
Marilyn made cookies for both cars. We figured we can eat 1 cookie per car every 10 miles for all 1400 miles on the way down. I don't think we will go hungry.
We made it to Sikeston, MO at 5:30 and met with Steve and Deb Williams from our group. We took a short rest and then went out for dinner at Dexter's BBQ. Dry rub ribs smoked over hickory for 14 hours. Finger lickin' good.
The drive down was fun. Brain games kept us thinking and laughing, it made the day go very fast.
We looked at the weather for both MN and LA. I think we are going to have cooler weather than you the beginning part of the week. We will keep you in our prayers, please keep us in yours as well.
Off to New Orleans for dinner on Sunday and then down to Port Sulphur for orientation and getting settled. It looks like we will be the last group at camp as they will be closing up after we leave. It sounds like we will finish 2 homes and do dedications with the families during the week. Pray for us as we work on the houses and with the families, may each of us be the hands, feet and heart of our Lord Jesus Christ to everyone we meet.
Make sure you check on what is happening with the AWOL Group who is serving the Lord just like we are. May they show Christ's love and peace in all they do during their week. Our prayers are with them.
Stay cool, may God's Blessing be with all of you.
