As Families Grow Older (AFGO) is a six-week course and group experience designed to assist older adults, families/family caregivers and elder care professionals in planning and providing loving care for elderly members as they grow older. The underlying vision and values of the course are: • Aging is a natural process, not a problem to be fixed. • Older adults have the right to make their own decisions and plans, for as long as possible, with the well-being of the whole family in mind. • Families grow, change and adapt, just as individuals do. • Family members, whether near or far, are interdependent and connected. • Each family member, regardless of age, contributes to the integrity and wholeness of the family. • Family relationships are built on a fundamental respect for the dignity of each member.

Lisa Toms, a member of Lord of Life and an expert in the area of geriatric care and elder living, will facilitate the program.
