As Families Grow Older
As Families Grow Older (AFGO) is a six-week course and group experience designed to assist older adults, families/family caregivers and elder care professionals in planning and providing loving care for elderly members as they grow older. The underlying vision and values of the course are:

• Aging is a natural process, not a problem to be fixed.
• Older adults have the right to make their own decisions and plans, for as long as possible, with the well-being of the whole family in mind.
• Families grow, change and adapt, just as individuals do.
• Family members, whether near or far, are interdependent and connected.
• Each family member, regardless of age, contributes to the integrity and wholeness of the family.
• Family relationships are built on a fundamental respect for the dignity of each member.

AFGO is composed of six modules designed to address important issues in aging including family dynamics, care giving, health issues, living arrangements, financial and legal issues and dying in your faith.

Lisa Toms, a member of Lord of Life and an expert in the area of geriatric care and elder living, will facilitate the program.

Please check back for dates of the next session. Pre-registration is required. The cost (materials only) is $15 per person.
