Campus Ends Policy

Ends Policy:

The Lord of Life campus exists:

1.      For the church building to be the center of campus life both spiritually and geographically.

2.      To be an identifiable witness of God’s love to the community, cohesive in mission and architectural design.

3.      To honor God through sustainable, accessible and environmentally responsible design and development.

4.      To empower achievement of stated Congregational Council Ends Policies.

Reasonable Interpretation:
The purpose of Lord of Life Campus End policy will be to create a campus plan that…

1.   Understands that the campus is the visible presence of God’s love which means that as it is developed the first question always asked is “Does this illustrate and impart God’s love to those who will use this part of the campus?”

2.   Respects and protects the church building as the absolute physical focal point.

3.   Makes faith-based activities primary and assertively assesses any development partner for compatibility and alignment with Lord of Life’s mission and ends policies.

4.   Enables Lord of Life to serve members and the community through the actual physical presence by respecting and anticipating each individual’s needs.

5.   Highlights our acknowledgement that all we have is a gift from God and through innovation, specifically in building material, architectural design and environmental choices, the campus will be an exceptional example of responsible use of God’s resources.

6.   Envisions the campus as the physical manifestation and integration of all the ends policies and thus will be developed and built to achieve the goals as set out by the ends policies.

Current Activities

1.   Active Campus Development Team (CDT) that has had initial discussions of priorities and possibilities.

2.   Conversations with City of Maple Grove, Hustads, Trek Development and other partners to consider potential campus development activities.

Next Steps

1.   With approval of Reasonable Interpretation, CDT re-convenes to begin creation of initial short-term and ongoing mid and long-term plans based on ends policies.

2.   Pastor Peter and Pastor Phil will continue their work as liaisons with existing potential partners such as Augustana, YMCA, Thrivent and others and reporting to and coordinating with the CDT.
