Culture of Generosity Ends Policy
Ends Policy:
1. Members of Lord of Life faith community will be generous with their gifts out of a sense of gratitude, not obligation
2. Members of Lord of Life faith community will support the mission through financial generosity
3. Members of Lord of Life faith community will holistically express God’s generous spirit by acting generously, speaking generously and thinking generously
4. Members of Lord of Life faith community will seek to discover the needs of others, and find ways to provide for them.
5. Lord of Life will generously provide financial and spiritual support to organizations and individuals other than ourselves that assist in fulfilling the mission God has for us.
Reasonable Interpretation:
The purpose of Lord of Life Culture of Generosity Ends policy will be to implement a strategy and tactics that:
1. Defines and teaches gratitude motivated generosity for members so all can understand the magnitude and possibility of the concept in their daily lives and the ministry of Lord of Life.
2. Integrates the attitude and activities of generosity into all Lord of Life ministries and programs as a visible, high priority.
3. Creates opportunities for significant and purposeful acts of generosity that enables members to live out their attitude and lifestyle of generosity at Lord of Life and in their daily lives.
4. Designs and implements a clear, simple, intentional and faith driven financial model and process for members that inspires them to give their money generously to support and expand Lord of Life’s mission
5. Continues and expands Lord of Life’s outreach to the world, demonstrating and living out God’s generosity.
Current Activities
1. Annual stewardship campaign to support $3.3 million budget
2. Legacy givers and foundation to support long-term LOL mission
3. LifeTIMES and website articles about generosity
4. Many opportunities to be generous i.e. direct financial contributions to missions
5. Many in-kind contributions i.e. Christmas Families, Souper Sunday, CROSS, etc.
6. Many chances to serve i.e. missions, Caring and Sharing Hands, etc.
7. Benevolence Team that facilities distribution of approximately 10% of Lord of Life’s income for local, regional and international ministries.
Next Steps
1. Work with Kairos on ends policy implementation.
2. Creation of Generosity Team of 4 to 6 lay leaders to create and guide implementation of ends policy.
3. Ongoing communication strategy for Key Leaders.
4. “Telling the generosity story” through a group of 8-12 key leaders to convey their own story of grace/generosity in various venues.
5. Create a plan to educate and motivate members through generosity messages/stories in worship, key leader mentoring, new member education, children/youth programs, adult programs and other opportunities.
6. Focus on 4 key measurable areas of growth:
a. Income
b. Number of ACH givers
c. Number of pledges
d. Number of total givers
7. Create and implement a capital campaign for 20,000 to 25,000 sq ft space to facilitate expanded Faith Formation, Leadership and other ends policy execution.
