Hope 4 Kids/Mission Uganda: Who Will Feed the Children?

  Feeding Karamojong Children
Hope 4 Kids International is attempting to feed 420 karamojong children daily who were once dying in the streets of starvation and poisoned food found in rubbish pits. Many churches (including Lord of Life) and individuals have been sending money so they can continue this expensive, but top priority project.  Others include teenagers like Kim who with the help of her mother provides a night out for parents and uses the donations she receives for watching the children to help feed the karamojong. Liz, another teenager, stands outside her church every Sunday collecting recyclables to sell so she can give to these children. Jodi and Carolyn have been sending emails to their friends. Slowly the word is getting out and people are responding!

There is still much to do. Here is information from Pastor Ruth:

"On Wednesday I broke down and cried. Every organization and department rushes to provide food for the refugees and when we sit in meetings every one of them is concerned about overflow of items or duplication of services but none of them is seeing the plight of the street children who end up eating poisoned food as they rampage the rubbish tins if they are not attended to. (Although Ruth constantly tells these organizations about the children) Is it about them wanting to be seen by the whole world as having saved the refugees? Is it about hitting the headlines in newspapers? How I wish they could know how important it is for the King of Kings to know them and to see in secret the good work they offer to the needy. . . Somewhere on this planet God has people whom He will use to make this program continue. Please deliver our heartfelt appreciation to all the people God has used to avail funds to sustain this program. Their reward is in heaven-when we meet Jesus they will be amazed to see all these beautiful faces shining with joy and Jesus telling them "thank you for being my heart and hands to these children."

Feeding Children in Tororo Hospital

Lord of Life's benevolence dollars have supported feeding programs for the Karamojong and malnurished children at the Tororo Hospital.  Here is a letter from the Christian Foundation for Community Development minister.

Pastor Phil and brother Kent,

Greetings from Uganda in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ our Lord. On behalf of Christian Foundation for Community Development ministry, allow me to say thank you for all the support you and Lord of life church have given us to feed the children in Tororo referral hospital.

The money you sent us has done great work to meet the food needs of malnourished children and the children’s ward in general. We gave a donation of milk, cooking oil, sugar and charcoal to the nutrition ward and we have embarked on cooking poriadge mixed with milk to the rest of the sick children. We also give them 2 eggs each two times a week and as per now we shall be doing it two times a week up to when God takes us to another level. On the lips of local organizations and UN agencies, talk is about infant mortality rates but I can tell you that hunger and malnutrition takes a great toll on children who die before reaching five years. They die slowly in the villages without anyone’s notice because they don’t visit health units.

The Lord is gracious because through you he has heard our prayer to serve these children from poor families. We shall always carry out our activities accompanied by the word of God because it’s an opportunity for us to serve these children as we share with their mothers some of whom are widows and uneducated. We shall not stop at that but working together with you and the nutrition department Tororo hospital we shall impart in them skills on how to take care of their children. We look forward to continue working in partnership with you.

Blessings and Love to you all.
