Habitat for Humanity
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity Mission
To eliminate poverty housing from the Twin Cities and to make decent, affordable shelter for all people a matter of conscience.

Habitat for Humanity
provides home ownership opportunities for low-income families. Working under the “faith-based” principle that no profit should be gained from assisting those in need, Habitat for Humanity charges no interest on the homes it sells.

Lord of Life has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for over 15 years. In the past, we have helped build homes in Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Anoka, New Hope, Columbia Heights and Minneapolis. Lord of Life also provides financial support for the Twin Cities chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Our youth are also involved with Habitat for Humanity through the
Sr. High AWOL trips taken each summer.

This year's site was at 22nd and Irving in Minneapolis, a rehab rather than new construction.

Rest assured that you will be placed on a work crew no matter your level of experience. Last year, ~40% of our participants were female and we always have a very broad range of ages. 16 & 17 year olds require one adult supervisor (age 21+) per four youth. More information can be found at: www.tcHabitat.org

The 2010 site was in north Minneapolis: 1906 Russell Avenue North (see photos at right). This home was thankfully spared from any serious damage during the tornado in North Minneapolis.

The work was "re-habilitating" a home that was in need of major structural and cosmetic repairs (rather than the new construction done in recent years). Roughly half of Habitat's projects are such "re-habs" due to the level of need and economies of such projects. Lord of Life is part of the Northwestern Churches Coalition.
