Military Families Support Ministry

Lord of Life’s Military Families Support Ministry is beginning its fourth year. This ministry was created to provide support to active military members and their families during this time of war. Thanks to many efforts by individuals in this ministry along with fantastic support from Lord of Life members we have

Shipped much needed supplies to hospitals in both Iraq and Afghanistan,
•
Sent Christmas packages to US Marines serving in Afghanistan,
Provided financial assistance for military families in crisis,
Provided numerous handyman services while a loved one is deployed and,
Been there to lend a listening ear!

The Military Families Support Ministry is made up of veterans and also
includes those who are not veterans but just want to help. We
meet the 4th Monday of each month from 6:30-8 pm. We welcome anyone who would like to become involved! The meetings are very casual and include a potluck dinner. For more information, please contact John and Lucy Rodvik at rodvik@aol.com.

2011 Military Families Dinner
* 11-11-11 *
Veterans and their guests were honored at a dinner on Friday, November 11 at Lord of Life. This was a time for veterans from World War II to the Global War on Terrorism to share stories, laugh and be in fellowship with your fellow brothers and sisters who have proudly worn the uniform. Guest speaker was Nancy Carlson (LOL member and pastor at Westwood Lutheran), whose father was a POW during World War II.

Volunteer
If you have a service you'd like to offer to families when a military person is deployed, we'd love to know! We are creating a list of people to contact so we can reach out to members in a timely manner when help is needed. Possible services include handyman, lawnwork, legal, auto repair, meal preparation, accounting, childcare and more. Please
fill out the volunteer form, and we'll contact you when a need arises.

Operation Laptop
*Five laptops were presented to soldiers at Lord of Life on Memorial weekend. The recipients were: Specialist Gravdahl, Private First Class Geier, Specialist Brown, Sergeant Squires, and Specialist Lane. *Thank you to Michael Yu for working with the National Guard to identify the soldiers who could benefit the most from the computers (purchased with profits from the Mother's Day Breakfast) and for using his computer expertise to select the types of laptops to purchase.
