Mission Tanzania: A Spiritual Safari

Mission:
To work in partnership with companion church parishes in Ifuwa, Tanzania to build a relationship between our congregations. To work together, bega kwa bega (shoulder to shoulder), to assist one another with projects, communicate and pray for each other and grow in our faith through these cross-cultural interactions between two active Lutheran churches.

Expectations: Not all people called to international outreach are able to travel, but all are able to give of their time, creativity, resources and passion for Christ. It is our prayer to return with a group of interested individuals, in addition to mission trip participants, to work together promoting cross-cultural understanding and addressing health, education and commerce issues that will assist the development of our companion churches in Tanzania.

How to get involved with Mission Tanzania

Donate to Mission Tanzania
The team traveling to Tanzania will bring along donated supplies to distribute while they are there. View the list and bring your donations to church through June 3. Please mark bags "Mission Tanzania" and bring them to the Service Center in the new addition.

*Tanzania GodParent program*
Most people in Tanzania don’t have more than a primary school education, even though it is free. Only about twenty percent of eligible children are able to attend secondary school even though the cost is only $360 per year. This may seem like a small amount of money, but the average income for a Tanzanian family is only $800 a year, which means tuition is well outside of their budget.

Please consider becoming a GodParent to a Tanzanian student. The total cost of sponsorship is $360 and will provide your student with a year of a Lutheran education in a safe and healthy environment.

If you would like to become a GodParent and give hope to a student in need, please
register online. You can make your donation of $360 online or drop your check off in the Lord of Life office. If you would like to help with a scholarship, any donation amount is accepted. For more information about this important sponsorship program, please contact Karen Nelson at karenn@lordoflife.org or Joyce Sager at joycesager@comcast.net.

To see more photos of our sponsored students (like Jackline, pictured at right), to learn more about this important program, and to find out how you can make a difference in the life of a Tanzanian student, visit the Tanzania GodParent page.

Want to connect with our partner parish students? Letters are being collected to bring to the students. Please turn them in to "will call" in the main church office by June 10. See what to include.

Travel with Team Tanzania:  June 16 - July 1, 2012
