RiverWorks Food Shelf

RiverWorks Facts:

* 1,136 of our neighbors visited the food shelf at least once in 2010, and of these, 409 were children.

* 434 people were served monthly (on average in 2010).

*  109,445 pounds of food was handed out last year.

* The fastest growing type of person needing assistance from a food shelf is underemployed and/or those whose hours or pay have been cut.

* Each and every month, we continue to see new clients who have never been through our doors before.

* The RiverWorks food shelf is staffed by community volunteers.

RiverWorks Food Shelf serves the communities of Rockford  and Greenfield. The food shelf opened its doors on March 8, 2010, and in that first month it served 99 households. By September 2010, 855 of the 7,000 people who live in the community had been to RiverWorks at least once. The need is great!

Many seeking assistance are coming for the first time and never dreamed they would need a food shelf. Among those served are the unemployed, the underemployed, seniors, and those facing large medical bills. In addition to providing food, other things happen: relationships are built, new jobs are celebrated, a listening ear is given, families are cared for, and volunteers give hundreds of hours.

Lord of Life is excited to begin a ministry with Riverworks food shelf! Please prayerfully consider providing your support:
