Special Services

Healing Service
The Evangelical Lutheran Worship book includes services for Life Passages: Healing, Funeral and Marriage. The Service of Healing is an expression in worship of the church’s ministry of healing. Here everyone who senses a need for God’s healing in any aspect of their lives may join in prayer for others and themselves, and may receive a word of blessing and prayer. In addition, they may receive a physical gesture of healing: the laying on of hands, which may be accompanied by anointing with oil. These signs, first given in baptism, tell us again that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked forever with the cross of Christ, who brings health and salvation for the whole world.

In its ministry of healing, the church does not seek to replace the gifts of God that come through the scientific community, nor does it promise a cure. The church offers and celebrates the gifts of God’s presence with strength and comfort in time of suffering, God’s promise of wholeness and peace, and God’s love embodied in the communithy of faith. Please come to a service if you desire God’s healing in any area of your life – physical, emotional or spiritual – and whether you desire healing for yourself, a relationship, or on behalf of another person.

The healing services are held the third Saturday of the month at 6:45 pm.  Please feel free to contact Karen Greimel, pastoral associate, if you have any questions about these services or visit the Healing Ministry webpage for more information.

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Service of Remembrance

Each year on the first weekend of November we remember all the saints who have gone before us, both those known to all the church and those known only to us and our families. On All Saints' weekend, we offer prayers during our regular worship services for all the members of our church family who have died in the past year. We also offer a special opportunity for reflection at our Service of Remembrance the first weekend in November. Everyone is invited to attend this special service in remembrance of loved ones.

Blessing of the Animals

A Blessing of the Animals service is held each October on the front lawn, rain or shine.  The Blessing of the Animals is a service that is done in commemoration of the life of St. Francis of Assisi, who called animals his brothers and sisters.  Check out the video on Lord of Life's Creation Care Team web page to see the fun that was had by all at this special service!
