Word for Women

Service Project: Sorting clothes for the LSS clothing sale

Word for Women encourages women in their Christian faith through the study of the Word, along with prayer support, fellowship and service. WFW offers weekly gatherings with women of all ages who are interested in developing their personal faith, supporting each other and serving together. All women, both members and nonmembers, are invited to explore faith through the Bible and other fun and interesting media.

The format includes large group teaching, followed by small group discussions. Each week, the group celebrates with hospitality time, worship time, highlights of service opportunities or testimony.

From a Word for Women member:

“I am so grateful for this wonderful group of women. WFW is a big part of my life. I have learned so much about God, the Bible, relationships and have developed meaningful friendships with beautiful Christian women.”

Winter Book Study Begins

What do you say when you talk to yourself…? Ever wonder what you should say when you talk to yourself…?

We talk to ourselves all the time. We evaluate everything we do, compare ourselves to others, and even call ourselves names. We disparage who we are instead of telling ourselves the truth about who God says we are.

Make a New Year's resolution to clean out your thought closet of old, out-dated and unattractive styles of thought. Me, Myself and Lies: A Thought Closet Makeover, by Jennifer Rothschild, encourages us to clean out the junk in our thoughts and replace these hidden negative thoughts and failures with positive truths from God's word. Join us for this 7-week Bible study. Cleaning is more fun when we can do it together!

RiverWorks Food Shelf is located at 8230 Cedar Street in Rockford and serves the communities of Rockford and Green field. The food shelf opened its doors on March 8, 2010. That first month it served 99 households and as of September 2010, 855 people (of the 7,000 who live in the community) had been to the food shelf at least once. The need is great.

A special thank you to all who helped with the March Campaign - whether it was through prayer, donating food, paper bags, and/or financial gifts. Riverworks exceeded their goal for the month and collected over 6000 pounds of food and more than $28,000!

Please check out the list of
